Nature Connect – Bird Walk at Lodhi Gardens with Delhi International School Edge, Dwarka

At Yogesh Bhatia Photography, we believe that conservation begins with awareness, and awareness begins with experience.

With this vision, we launched our Nature Connect initiative, an effort dedicated to introducing children to the fascinating world of birds, wildlife, and the natural environment. Our mission is simple: to help young minds reconnect with nature, develop curiosity, and understand why protecting our ecosystems is so important.

Our Nature Connect Bird Walk was conducted with 50 enthusiastic students from Delhi International School Edge, Dwarka, at the historic Lodhi Gardens, New Delhi.

From the moment the walk began, the students were encouraged to slow down, observe, and listen. Instead of looking at nature in passing, they learnt how to identify birds by their colours, behaviour, flight patterns, and calls. Every sighting became an opportunity to understand how birds play an essential role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

The excitement on the children’s faces as they spotted different bird species was truly rewarding. Many of them discovered that a city park can be home to an incredible diversity of wildlife when viewed with patience and curiosity, much like the moments captured in our wildlife photography gallery.

Throughout the walk, the focus was not on photography alone, it was on building a lifelong appreciation for nature. The students learnt why birds are important indicators of environmental health, how urban green spaces support biodiversity, and how even small individual actions can contribute towards conservation.

At a time when children spend increasing amounts of time indoors and on digital devices, experiences like these provide an invaluable opportunity to reconnect with the natural world. We believe that today’s young observers will become tomorrow’s responsible citizens and future guardians of our environment.

The enthusiasm shown by the students and teachers from Delhi International School Edge, Dwarka made this inaugural Nature Connect Bird Walk a memorable success. Their curiosity, participation, and eagerness to learn reaffirmed our belief that environmental education is most effective when experienced firsthand.

We sincerely thank the school’s leadership, teachers, and students for embracing this initiative and making the morning so special.

This is only the beginning.

Through Nature Connect, Yogesh Bhatia Photography aims to collaborate with schools across India to organise educational bird walks and kids’ photography workshops, nature interpretation sessions, and wildlife awareness programmes that inspire children to appreciate and protect the natural world.

Because when children learn to love nature, they grow up wanting to protect it.

If your school would like to organise a Nature Connect Bird Walk or Nature Awareness Programme, we would be delighted to work together to inspire the next generation of nature enthusiasts.
