Dhikala: The Heavens Of Wildlife—A Journey Into The Wild.
The raw, untamed wilderness of Dhikala in Jim Corbett National Park has
always been a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, but our recent
expedition proved to be nothing short of extraordinary. With
participants from all over India, the trip was an unforgettable
experience, packed with breathtaking moments and iconic frames of the
jungle’s most majestic inhabitants.
Arrival: The Journey Begins With A Bang
Our adventure began in Ramnagar, where anticipation was palpable among
the group. As we set off towards Dhikala, the transition from the
The contrast between the bustling town and the deep wilderness was striking.
The dense Sal forests, meandering riverbeds, and the open grasslands of Dhikala
welcomed us into its heart. Our stay for the next three nights was at
the Dhikala Forest Rest House, perched on the banks of the Ramganga
River, offering an immersive experience right in the middle of
nature’s grandeur.

Wild Encounters: Tigers, Elephants, And Birds In Their Element
Dhikala never disappoints, and this time, it exceeded expectations. Our
Safaris unfolded like chapters of an epic wildlife saga, each drive
bringing new surprises.
The Lords Of The Jungle—Tiger Encounters
The highlight of any Dhikala trip is, undoubtedly, the majestic Bengal
tiger. This time, the jungle rewarded our patience with awe-inspiring
tiger sightings. One of the most memorable moments was when a dominant
A male tiger emerged from the tall grass, locking eyes with us before
walking along the riverbank in golden evening light. Another thrilling
sighting involved a tigress with her cubs, a sight that left us all in
sheer admiration of nature’s splendour.

The Gentle Giants—Elepents In Their Realm
Dhikala’s elephant herds are legendary, and we were fortunate to
Witness them in their full grandeur. We watched a matriarch leading her
herd across the grasslands, the little calves playfully following the
adults. At one point, a young tusker approached our vehicle, flaring his
ears in a show of dominance before retreating into the dense foliage.
These moments truly showcased the raw beauty of Dhikala’s wilderness.
Wings Of Dhikala—A Birdswatcher’s Delight
For birding enthusiasts, Dhikala is nothing less than paradise. The
region’s avian diversity was on full display as we spotted crested
Serpent eagles perched high on branches, Pallas’s fish eagles scanning
the riverbanks, and vibrant hornbills flitting through the canopy. The
Ramganga reservoir was teeming with migratory birds, including
bar-headed geese, ospreys, and river lapwings. Each frame captured added
another stroke to the masterpiece of our journey.

The Dhikala Experience: A Symphony Of The Wild
Beyond the wildlife sightings, Dhikala offers an experience that is
truly surreal. The calls of the wild—deer alarm calls echoing through
the trees, the distant roar of a tiger, and the trumpeting of
elephants—formed a soundtrack to our stay. Early mornings were marked
by mist rolling over the river, while sunsets painted the sky in hues of
orange and crimson, making each moment unforgettable.

A Farewell, But Never A Goodbye
As our three-night sojourn in Dhikala came to an end, the jungle had
gifted us with frames and memories that would last a lifetime. The
